Forgetting Passwords is Normal if You change them Frequently

-->
Passwords, the best ways to secure the computer system and the data saved on it, can sometimes lead to problems. The most prominent being that the password may get hacked. This again puts the system and data at risk. This generally happens if somebody finds out what your password is, either by getting access to the file in which you had saved it, or the paper or folder that you had copied it on. To avoid this, generally, it is advised to keep changing your password frequently. This reduces the possibility of your account being hacked. But even this solution does have flaws! Chances are that you will forget your last set password! That is why, it is recommended to think properly before setting your password. This is because, once forgotten, password recovery is an additional task.
Consider, you have forgotten your newly set Windows account password. In such a situation, you may follow the below mentioned suggestions to effectively recover Windows password:
  • Use the password hint to help remember the forgotten password.
  • Another option is to use the password reset disk of your computer. Windows XP, Vista and 7 allow their users to create a reset disk that is specific to the account.
  • Not only can you set a password hint to help you remember a forgotten user password, you can also create a floppy disk which will enable you to completely reset your password in the event that you cannot recall it.
  • In case, you have another Administrator account, use that to reset your password.
  • If you have an installation disk of Windows, any version, then you can use that to reset your password. To do this, you will need to repair Windows. For this, you need to enter the recovery console, and type the following commands (followed by hitting enter):
net user administrator /active:yes
net user name password
where,
'name' is the name of the account for which you want to reset the password, and
'password' refers to the password that you would like to set.
But in case the above methods do not work for you, then you may want to reinstall your Windows installation. However, this puts your data and all other applications at risk of loss. It is far easier to recover Windows password using appropriate software.
