A Windows administrator password, also termed as admin password, is the password that is used to log on to any Windows account that has administrative access. This password prevents against unauthorized access to your crucial information stored on the computer and is required at each attempt of booting the computer. Windows stores this password in its registry-based file called SAM (Security Accounts Manager). It is a database that is located at %SystemRoot%\System32\Config folder. The administrator needs to remember this password to be able to access the data stored, therein.
